Sweet Valentine’s

I think I mentioned once that I used to have a baking blog before I started Three Little Birds. The time has come to share some of the Valentine’s goodies I made last year, when I was on maternity leave with a two-month-old baby, a two-year-old and a seven-year-old. Enjoy!

Who doesn’t love a good cupcake? These are chocolate sponge with butter cream decoration – coloured pink and blue.

And of course they have pretty pink polka dot  cases!

These are simple sugar cookies, baked on a lollipop stick and decorated with chocolate and sprinkles. Yummy!

Sugar rush!!

These are little chocolate cakes (with chocolate butter cream filling) and sugar paste decoration.

I hope you all have a cracking Valentine’s Day. I expect Mr Chef will be working late, but I’ll get all the love from my three little monsters: cuddles, snuggles and dribbley baby kisses. Perfect!

I used to have a bowl of cereal every morning, until it was brought to my attention just how much sugar boxed breakfast cereals contain. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not a killjoy – I still occasionally let my kids choose honey rings or chocolate rice (although to be honest their favourites are Weetabix and bran flakes, if you can believe that!) But I do like to mix it up a bit and get some healthier options in there, too. Here are five of my favourites to give you inspiration this week. Continue reading
